Noisy Friar Birds

Daily visitors coming in for a feed on the Callistemon flowers.

We have the Little Friars also as visitors.

That is one ugly bird, but wonderful pictures of it. He looks like a Skekzi from "The Dark Crystal". LOL

I will try for a closer look at one..they are sort of vulturine with the naked head.

Here is one showing the 'web' of the beak which no doubt helps the birds in some way but wtf that is I dont know!

What role the casque on the bill plays is also a wtf ?

Call them 'leatherheads' up in North Queensland.
Get into every bloody thing if you let them, cheeky buggers!
Wish they'd get into the Mina birds here, bloody introduced pests those things.
Great camera work mate - wary bird so if you get too close they're off!
