side mounts
      #274111 - 27/11/15 06:20 AM

I have an old LSA in 257 Roberts rimmed (7x57Rimmed necked down )which I intend remodelling to a Lee Speed style sporter in 375x2 1/2 and I would like to fit my vintage Pecar 4x to it (traditionalist look away now ).
Is there a side mount scope mount that will fit or can be modified to fit, or does anyone have a mount that they are willing to part with ?

currently on my 7.62x54R Siamese

Roger:
The Field side-mount is commonly found on early Lee Enfields, but not sure if "one size fits all" or whether it is necessary to get a specific model to fit your rifle.

Also, won't work with a dust-cover.

There's only one on UsedGuns at the moment, came off a Remington 33.

Here is a pic of the Parker Hale version, posted over on Gunboards:

I have a Field side-mount on a Sportco No.4 Mk.I .308, set up like an L42A1 'sporter'. Scope is a Simmons Whitetail (for now, anyway) and with the long, heavy barrel that outfit shoots very well indeed.

Marrakai, to me that "Field" sidemount looks very much like the American Weaver sidemount. One of those must be somewhere in my "Junkbox".

Weaver side-mount base #2, but Geez they are ugly.

Get one of the side-mounts that came on the Swedish Husqvarnas that looks like an EAW roll off side-mount.

.......these are pics of a Gibbs 303 sporter, but I can't find any pics of the front mount.

Yes I posted those photos of the Gibbs mounts a while back & have more photos but they are jammed now by RSA 2048 !

I got this one a while back to go on one of my BSA/Lee Speed real or fakes, but like mine with the Dust cover on the early ones & can use the charger bridge on the later types (well some of them) I have a later BSA sporter with this type, but not quite as nice looking as this one .

Can you still use the dust cover with that setup ??......I like the Gibbs setup with the mounts on the stock socket and barrel instead of the action.
