I remember that ad from when I was a kid. Must have read all of Crump's books back then.

I see the Hilux had the tires of the day fitted to it - I don't think they fitted anything but Super All Tractions to 4X4s back then.

Nice - good easy drive - good thing they didn't go over anything rough.

Good to see the gun up the back of the seats to. Those were the days before bloody PC become the in thing for all the namby pambys.

The other Toyota 4x4 adverts were classics too.

The vehicle manufacturers wouldn't show adds like that anymore, not PC and might upset someone. Instead they show parents dropping children off to school!

The used to be an add in the late seventies/early eighties for the 45 series SWB land cruiser with a chick driving it up a rough track through the bush. The music to it went "boom chicka bang bang, boom chicka bang bang" or something like that. From memory she was a good looker as well!

Hopefully it was a very bumpy bouncy road ...

Classic.

"take sugar mate?" "No Thanks" "Oh well, er, just don't stir it!"

They were good workhorses.

Aren't they small compared to the giant Hilux's (Tundra's) today!
