I know of a deluxe grade Searcy in 577NE for sale.It has game scene engraved sideplates, and very nice wood.It shoots very well with reduced loads but was built and regulated to shoot the 750gn full loads.I seem to remember it going for about 16000.

Were you asking about it, or is this an ad?

500 grains
does it sound like the price meets the description ont this gun.Im having thoughts about buying it but I dont know what I would use a new 577NE for.I dont go to Africa often, and I think I would rather spend 16000 on somthing that would that would suit my needs a little better.

Jeast,

For $18K you can get a brand new one built to your specs with the engraving you want. Look at the Searcy website www.searcyent.com and click on .577 boxlock. The rifle pictured is really nice. If it is that one I would be tempted.

There was a Searcy .577 double for sale on gunsamerica.com some months ago, or perhaps a year ago. It looked like the fellow had shortened the stock and replace the recoil pad, but pictures can be deceiving. If it is that rifle, you might end up paying to have a new stock made, in which case $16K would be too much.

Also keep in mind that Butch Searcy sold his personal .577 boxlock underlever presidential grade a couple of years ago for about $15K, while the same gun would cost over $20K to duplicate today.

Jeast:

I seriously considering getting the searcy in .577. I just like big bored rifles and have always wanted on in that caliber.

And I too have to admit that the picture of the Searcy boxlock on his website is a VERY nice looking firearm!
