Awesome pictures, and I appreciate your sharing them, but what a bunch of drivel from the website and the "author."
If the lioness walked away, albeit bleeding a bit, she didn't actually make the "ultimate" sacrifice.
She certainly might have been prepared to do so, but it's crappy pop-culture {trolling} websites like the one that posted these photos [the types that make you click through each photo to push their advertising numbers] that will write anything to get people to click.
Crap like that leads to the whole Cecil-the-Lion types of reactions.
Still an awesome set of photos. Shame they have to be so whored-up to get any attention.

When I click on the picture of the lioness, I get nothing to do with that story - spam all the way.

I just see the lioness firts picture, and let down. Too afraid of once again seeing cubs be killed. I can stand any misery but not lion cubs being slaughtered.
So far I don't know what this show is about, but later seing your comments, I am pretty sure that I miss nothing.
Personnally I love to see lionesses, far more than lion. They seem to have so much dedication and courage. MHO.

I have no idea why the link didn't work for you. As Cazadero says the title of the article is incorrect as lioness doesn't make the "ultimate sacrifice". What happens is a group of lions are preparing to cross a river in the Okavanga Delta when the subject lioness sees a crocodile that she perceives as a threat to her cubs and the rest of the pride. In an incredibly selfless act she goes after the crocodile. At one point the croc has her by the nose but the lioness manages to escape, leaping quickly to shore. The diversion allowed the rest of the lions to swim across the river. The last picture shows the lioness with a punctured nose.

thanks for explaining the whole story, I am so fed up (and distressed) with cubs being killed that I hardly look at sensational lion videos.
