I hope it was someone here!
I would have liked to have picked it up but alas I'm paying for 3 weddings in the next 12 months (ouch!)

Hello Gents,

Yes someone here for sure 'me'.....:)

Three wedding Matt...! gosh much respect to you my friend and I thought my new little dog was taking all my money and energy.

The timing was on my side with this one chaps, so thrilled to have snapped this one up. A beautiful looking rifle, however 'no' magazine! So now I'm on the hunt for the correct 8mm example.

Cheers, Roy.

Great to hear that you aquired this Roy.
Of course, once you receive it, photos are mandatory!
Let us know how you use this classic rifle.

Thank you for that Matt,

As you can see I'm new to this forum but have been reading for a while.

I'm English by the way but now live in the wonderful state of Arizona and can now enjoy the freedoms this wonderful country has to offer.

I'm more of a collector than a shooter but still like to get a little 'vintage' range time in. Nothing like shooting a classic gun.

I will certainly try and sort some images out (including my other rifle) but not sure about the whole photo/web hosting deal. I'm assuming you can't just post photos from your computer? Either way I could always load some up on my website and include a link.

Cheers, Roy.

I dunno, three weddings still sounds more managable than one divorce!

Roy, thanks for joining up here!
I perused your site and could very well see an F-S fighting knife in my future.

As for the Speed, its all downhill from here. No going back...

I had a Steyr in 8X50R but never got around to sourcing cases or loaded ammo for it as they are not easy to find or make (if that is the same as for your rifle).

Hi Gents,

Thanks so much for your warm welcome. As you can probably tell from my website, I'm passionate about all things with military history, especially weapons. Dealing and writing about the F-S knife has been my full time occupation for many years now but I'm an avid collector at heart, be it insignia, Webley self-loaders and now it seems Lee-Speeds.....!

I have a soft spot for the Enfield pattern of rifle having learned to shoot on No4's back as a teenager in the ACF (Army Cadet Force). I especially like the commercial versions, as the higher quality and finish really appeals to me. Besides they remind e of the type of rifle used on the Daktari TV series I used to watch as a kid (not sure if you had that show over here, or even know what I'm talking about).

Excited to have snagged this one, my good fortune as I was just checking out the Simpsons site minuets after it was listed and jumped on the phone pretty quick..

All the best, Roy.

I'm sure your correct there. I hope never to find out!
My lovely bride and I have been married almost 30 years now and she still puts up with me!
It probably doesn't hurt that she likes to target shoot, fish and spend time in the backwoods.
After all the upcoming events are in the past (my son just got married on 12 Sept, 2015) we plan on taking a trip to Scotland. My wifes family is part of Clan Gray which is a sept of the larger Clan Sutherland. At least that is how I understand it (myself being of german descent).
We even had a piper at the reception for my son and daughter in law.
Your website could be...um...very detrimental to my financial well being. I do covent the large Webley revolvers!
As for military rifles, well I guess I'm a "Schweitzer". Veterli's and Schmidt-Rubins are my passion.

Hi Matt,

Congrats on your sons marriage, I will have a glass of my favorite Scotch to toast them both.

Scotland is certainly a beautiful part of the world (although a little wet). Gosh the last time I was there it was on annual camp with the ACF - Barry Budden (not sure of spelling) if I'm correct.

If you like wonderful old Webley revolvers check out this beauty I have:

She may be a relative... My Grandfather was from the 'Gray' clan from the Firth of Fourth?? Maybe

Cheers from Australia,

Jeff GRAY
