Model 1900 front sling swivel
      #269841 - 01/09/15 03:26 AM

My period correct sling hooks will not fit my model 1900 front sling eye. When I first looked at it I thought that it had been changed to something else but, upon further disassembly I think what is there might be original. The eye in the photo has a hole that is way too small for my sling hooks. I thought that the eye part should be the same as the eye part in the butt sling eye as shown. Anyone have a model 1900 or that knows what's going on with it?

Your front sling eye with it's flat sides looks as if made originally for a typical German – Austrian sling swivel for 7/8" slings. These usually have 3 to 3 ½ mm = .12 - .14" screws holding them to the base. Your rear sling eye does not look German or Austrian at all. It looks exactly like a bunch of such sling eyes I once bought from Numrich. The Numrich catalog then said "old Remington sling eyes", iirc.

The one on the right came off of an English Mauser sporter. It looks the same as the one on the rear of my 1900 on top. I haven't taken it out to see the threads. My 1900 did come from England so maybe the rear one has been replaced. Anyone know where I can get the correct rear sling eye and a set of sling swivels?

never mind. While digging through my sling swivel drawer I found a butt swivel that matches the front and the loop for the front. The front loop is a bit wide where the screw goes through the hole but it will do.
