I have found a "Standard modell Mauser" action only, with all numbers matching.
The only negative I can see on it, is three drilled holes one the side, underneath the Standard-Modell writing. These holes have been filled. Still not sure how they look on the inside of the action. Waiting on photos.
I am wondering what is this boards opinion on these actions to build upon? I am thinking a 7x57, with a custom built peep sight on the rear bridge. No drilling and tapping for scope!
Northman the Standard Modell with the Mauser banner on the front ring makes a perfect open sight rifle. The Mauser Banner really makes the action stand out from other models. It could be fitted with either a peep sight or express style sights. It makes me feel good inside knowing that you do not plan to drill and tap the action. If someone wants a scoped Mauser there are piles of them out there already drilled for scope bases. A nice clean Banner action should be left as an open sight rifle like God intended. Good luck with your project.
