      #26820 - 25/02/05 11:37 AM

I have tried several factory loads.
The Federals ,Winchester,and so far
the cheap Federals group best in my
Krieghoff double. What "premium"
bullet factory ammunition have you
had sucess with?

Last year my son took a buff with one shot using Federal Premium Trophy Bonded Bear Claw. Hit it behind the shoulder and it runs about 60 yds. and falls over dead. I was using a .416 Rem. Mag. and that same day took a buff with Sledgehammers. This time it took five well placed shots before the buff would roll over. You just never know.

K80, what load was your gun regulated with and how did that one shoot?

I have requested this info from
Krieghoff. All I have at this time
is what they used to resight after
knocking off the factory sights
and using the see through.
My hand loads have done well;
but they are much lower speed.
So far my testing with factory
has been fustrating.

Ken,
What was Krieghoff's response when you asked for this information? While standing in Krieghoff International in Pa. a question came up about my 7x65R set of barrels. The same barrels in the thread "What can be done about vertical spead". This set of barrels was built and regulated in 1995. When the questions were asked, the serial number was entered into a computer and in 30 seconds I had a copy of the original test target with all the information requested. What factory ammo, what distance, iron sights or scope?

If your 375 H&H has the adjustable wedge it doesn't seem to matter what ammo they tested. Use what you like and adjust the barrels accordingly. But if you really want to know what your gun was originally regulated with call the sevice department and have a fax number ready. I'm sure you'll have the original target within minutes.

I first shot my 7x65R with Sellier & Bellot it was disappointing. I bought RWS 173 grain TIG same as the regulating target. It shot as poorly as the Sellier and Bellot. I adjusted the wedge for barrel spread and now both loads shoot well as far as horizontal plane goes. Right and left barrel hit the vetical axis on the same plane at 100 yards. Now if I could only get them a little closer togther top to bottom.

Huh, what are you saying here? What does "knocking off the factory sights and using the see through" mean???

TIA

Roi, he means they took off the original factory sights, and installed the new "see through" sights.

I believe he is saying he got a factory target with the see through sights but not the original with the gun when purchased.

MY BAD
I changed the scope at about the same
time I started this quest.
I have been turning the wedge the wrong
way. I thought the new scope change was
part of the problem.
I WAS WRONG.
I am now close with with Federal 260s.
Same horzontial, need to close convergance.
I just got inpatient and moved too much
at a time.

K80,
The instructions say counter clockwise to spead them and clockwise to move them closer together. If you look down the barrels as you do it you can see the barrels move. It works like a charm. I've been working on the 7x65R barrels. 1/4 turn counter clockwise and my troubles were solved with regard to crossing. Now at 100 yards they are side by side. What I have is the right barrel shooting higher than the left by 1.5" at 100 yards. I'm hoping to fool around with that by changing loads. But, if it can't be moved vertically so be it. It's good enough for me. By the way the gun was regulated with open sights and it now has a scope on it. The reregulating was really easy.
