You know I have to agree with that, several years ago I started using plaid wool shirts and green, black or brown wool pants, and really haven't seen any difference, except that I don't look like Rambo when in town.

LOL - a lot of the street-people locals wear camo all year round, here. Depends on what they find at the 'good will' or Thrift store outlets.

Years ago I was shooting bow in an outdoor archery range..some new guy started shooting at the last target versus the first and blew some whitetail doe's my way..I had a bright RED Coke t-shirt on...I stood downwind motionless beside a tree--they walked past me at less than 10 yards..had no idea I was there...so yes--just like the scent sprays everyone buys..if you watch the wind you don't need a scent spray..

I do think it can help break up your outline some..but if you are walking ridge tops or something else and letting game spot you..don't care if you have $5000 camo on--you will be seen..

I am a bit colourblind. Camo looks ridiculous in the bush. Especially the new military stuff, it shows bright neon like green.

Test your hunting gear with a black light. It will show all uv. Which is a light spectrum animals see more of than we do. Wool doesn't show up at all for some reason.

We have made a concerted effort to NOT wear any of it anymore. That last rain gear left before last season. All the packs and bags and sundries have been traded off.

I don't like camo and avoid using it whenever possible and buy's clothes in earth colours. Tweed is also nice.

I have noted that covering hands and face will make a great improvement in stalking deer at very close range.

I would rather make and use a ghillie suit than to be seen in some whatever ideal pattern of the month Gucciflage.

Camo is fun for kids, especially when they get excited about a new shirt or jacket and an upcoming hunt.

Unless your going to get into a ghillie suit, the rest is (to me) just sugar frosting. All those adverts that claim "Spot the hunter - if you can..." well, it's easy to hide something in a photograph.

Reality and those pesky 3 dimensions are what makes you stand out. Even the ghillie suit is worthless if you move around.

The military teaches you that to truly camo is to dimensionally brake up your silhouette.

If you have to wear camo in south Texas, the only one that comes close is a product called Brush County that looks like a tangle of mesquite thorn, but other than the fun factor, I think it's kind of a waste of money.

2 rules that I learned long ago about hunting and observing wildlife;

1) Wear green (or brown).

2) Hold still.

All that being said, pissing away money for the fun of it is enjoyable sometimes.

To illustrate the inaneness of mass market camo products, remember that Bass Pro Shops is little more than Wal-Mart in Camoflouge

I believe some forms of cammo can help. look at nature, the leapord, tiger. We may see ol spots clearly but animal vision apparently does not.

However what ever you wear -I prefer wool - wash it with a soap/detergent that does not have brightners-UV nenons to anials- in it and not one solid colour if possible.
