Hello everyone I`m after some info on a Shotgun to be used for a Double rifle conversion.
I have found a Sauer 12g shotgun which is in very good condition it has the cross bolt,side clips ..BUT it does not have bushed firing pins.it even has a cheek piece which is already handy.
Now is it a big job it fit these? or should i just look for a new gun i would keep the Sauer as a shotgun .

Would any of you gentlemen know if there is any threads on this forum that shows work on bushing firing pins or any work for that matter on firing pins etc..

As I have wrote before, Sauer s&s boxlock shotguns aren´t IMO the best donor for making double rifle. One main reason is their action which is Anson & Deeley i.e. it doesn´t have any separate firing pins.

You are incorrect in your assumption that all A&D actions have firing pins integral to the hammers.
The A&D patent covers the method of cocking the hammers, it has nothing to do with firing placement.
Westley Richards (where the A&D design came from) would quite surprised to find that their double rifles are not A&D actions.

Thanks for qualification, of course there is some exceptions for that thumb rule but even these old patent pictures seems to have integral hammers. Westley Richards have good reasons to use separate firing pins when building their famous A&D drop lock actions.

Further to this discussion, IMHO the conversion of shotgun actions to striker (firing pin) bushings from the original integral tumbler/striker combination weakens the action. A significant amount of metal was removed when the action was made (in the back of the action standing breech) and taking significantly more metal out in the front of the standing breech for the said conversion is not something that I would do and expect the standing breech to remain square to the barrel face while firing 35,000 to 40,000 psi rifle cartridges.
Find you a BRNO zp49 or some other 3rd fastner action with striker bushings. Browning BSS's seem to be a choice even without 3rd fastner.

I have found a AYA sxs 12 gauge shotgun with bushed firing pins,cross bolt,side clips with a really clean action that locks up tight which i will use as a shotgun,and if i one day decide to tackle a double rifle conversion i will decide then to use this one or find another.
