Thank you Larcher.
Funny how they can "discover" a new species of Leopard in 2007.
In 2010 I saw a black one, similar size to this, maybe a little bigger, near the central Kalimantan border in East Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo). The locals call them panther or simply cat.
I have travelled quite a bit there and Central Borneo. Dyaks know all about these. Townsfolk not so much!
I saw it on a logging trail in the mountains, at 10am. Never even thought to lift my camera off my lap and take a photograph.
I had stayed in the house of one of our Dyak guides the night before. Lots of Rusa Deer antlers on the walls!
Cheers,
Chris

"discovered" is an exaggeration, as the Sunda Clouded Leopard was first described and classified by Cuvier in 1823. But until 2006 it was thought to be merely a subspecies of the Asian Clouded Leopard, neofelis nebulosa, and called neofelis nebulosa diardi. In 2006, by DNA and other tests, it was merely discovered that it is a different species of his own. So it was reclassified from a subspecies to the species neofelis diardi. The Sunda Clouded Leopard lives not only in Borneo, but in Sumatra too.

Is the cat in the video an immature individual or is the species normally smaller? Thanks.

The thick legs & large feet seem to indicate an immature animal.

You plainly expose it, an animal that You saw as umpteenth people do. And abracadabra a passing foreigner discovers it.
What's rejoicing is that when greenies turn us mad with disapperaing species, new ones emerge.
