Some Winter Green Fish....
      #266396 - 14/06/15 12:47 PM

Have been hitting the Darling river since Christmas time and it has been paying off big time.

This was last weekend.

Those are some impressive fish.
Doesn't look like there is muhch water for them to swim.
It does look like there is more water during the wet season though!

Flip, good effort, those are some nice sized cod.

The big ditch is looking pretty empty and without any rain will stay that way for a while.

Those fish are huge. Is the species "Green Fish"? I have no idea.

The Darling is looking like a little puddle creek again. Too many dams upriver and perhaps the drought again.

Nice cod indeed!
..and a good yella too by the looks.
Congrats.

Water clarity is quite good for such low levels, always like that?

Looks like they'd give you quite a scrap in that skinny water.

Nice cod fellas - beats Ash's lot hands down.......sorry mate I couldn't help it!
Any good chewing?
Caught Barra up in the channel country, bled them pronto (chilling in the esky) when we got back they were gilled & gutted obviously. The trick my mate showed me was to completely scrub out the body cavity membrane - once it was gone so was the muddy taint on Barra.
It took a lot of work to do but was definitely well worth it - wondering if you boys do the same?

93x64mm - are you referring to the kidney that runs under the back-bone? If so, yes - that needs to be well cleaned out. A round-ended stone works very well - or one of those birding knives with the scoop on one end.

Mark, you have a good haul of Cod there.

With the water so low it is very unsportsman to jig a bait right in front of them.
