i've recently become the caretaker of a grand old Grundig double rifle.....on the right side of the buttstock can be found a record of animals taken by this lovely old rifle in the past.....i would like to enlist the aid of our European pals in understanding the secrets of this grand old warrior...below is listed the initials of game taken by the previous owner......any assistance will be greatly appreciated..
H..(for Hirsch or elk?)
Th
K
DL?(the lettering is quite stylized so therefore difficult to decifer..)
DQ
DH
L
V
R
all of the above letters are stamped on a silver column with small brass tacks driven to the buttstock to accound for all the game taken.....

also, the silver oval on the underside of the buttstock is engraved with a crown over the letter R...

as before, any assistance to enlighten me in the provenance of this grand old rifle will be greatly appreciated......i twill endeavor to post photos of the above muddle but as i'm quite computer challenged, it may take a while......thanks in advance for any and all assistance rendered....

Welcome here!

So this will be similar as on this rifle from Nowotny, Prague
http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=262207&an=0&page=0#Post262207

"H" will probably stand for Hirsch / Rothirsch / red deer, this is the "top-of-the-line-game" in German hunting.
"R" is probably Reh / roe deer.
The other initials will need some more thinking.

The crown in the silver oval shows the owner was from nobiliy. The design of the crown indicates his rank:

Gründig was in Dresden.
Pictures will be most welcome.
Posting them should be easy. I use a german site, www.picr.de
All in german, so maybe not a good choice for you
