Westley Richards Mauser Question
      #262647 - 22/03/15 04:10 AM

I'm curious if someone would know if Westley Richards 318 and 425 rifles that took chargers for reloads used standard or proprietary clips?

They use standard 98' Mauser clips, no proprietary ones, the two calibers being built on standard length actions.

Don't know about the clips but they do have the front ring relieved from top center to right rail. Don't know exactly why. It was originally a 318 Accellerated Express and is so marked on front ring.

I think the receiver ring relief needs to be there on the 318's so a loaded round will clear whilst being ejected - the bullet sticks out of the case quite a way.
