Colt-Sauer .375H&H a good buy?

I have been offered a Colt Sauer in .375H&H it has the smoothest bolt I have ever used but it is not CRF but when I used it,it handles very well. Does anyone have opinion on these rifles?

Sauer is quality stuff, and the .375 H&H is a versatile no-nonsense cartridge. If you can live with the push-feed, and the price is right, go for it.

IMO CRF is way over worked as an issue I've owned M-70 and Remington rifles that are pushfeed and as reliable as they come.....Sako and Weatherby are also push feed actions and folks seem to have no qualms with them.

All the Colt Sauers I've handled and shot in the past were primo guns. The workmanship and quality were excellent. My only regret is in trading them off whenever somebody wanted them badly enough to give an offer I just couldn't refuse at that particular moment.

The Europeans on AccurateReloading give them a great a wrap up and especially for "out of the box" accuracy.

As to CRF, you will find just about all the postings on nAR about feeding problems are CRF. A CRF has to be better to work.

Is the Sauer a vertical stack centre line feed magazine, as opposed to staggered feed, if it is then that is the most reliable system for getting ammo from magazine to chamber and doubly so if if very blunt bullets are used in bigger bores.

Hey, there's almost enough of us to start a club. I've shot push feed rifles all my life and never had a problem. This "must be CRF" thing is vastly over-rated.

My only comments would be that many (most?) factory built rifles are a bit shiny for Africa and I'm personally not a great fan of removeable magazines........the smoothness of the bolt on the Saur range is fabulous and from (my experience) second only to Mannlicher.

One major problem with the Sauer 90 and colt is that in the cal .375 you have only 3 in the mag and one up and reloading is not fast due to the singlestack magazine that has toi be removed in order to be loaded.
The sauer 202 on the other hand can be bought with a extended magazine that can hold more cartridges.

They are nice rifles.. No doubt there

If there is one rifle that is as smooth as a Mannlicher, this is it. I have never owned one but have shot and handled a 30-06 and if my friend who owns sells it, I have his word that it would be to me.

Thanks for your replies! Most are agreed it is very smooth to operate. Reloading quickly in the field is a lot easier with a spare mag. plus a 4 rounder can be got from Sauer .

I own a sauer 375.mine shoots about 3/4 inch with factory remington 300gn core locs.It also has a decent peoce of wood.

I used a Sauer model 90, 375 in Zimbabwe and it was perfect. It is a good idea to buy a couple of extra magazines to keep loaded and in your pocket. makes for a quick reload.
