find the Kenya Gazette 1914 https://books.google.de/books?id=MmQ16P1...ter&f=false

interesting to go through the list of guns geting a permit in kenya 1913/1914
half are pistols/revolver, many mauser and mannlicher for the proud british and double rifles are rare like allways
most interesting for me is the mannlicher in 10,75mm, if not a typo this was a Model 1912 in 10,75x57. mister E.P.Schweder get a gun permiot for a 10,75 Mannlicher Schönauer rifle see page 218.
many old Mauser 71/84 blackpowder repeating rifles also

Wouldn't it be something to find one of your old rifles listed like this?

Bror von Blixen-Finecke had only a 7,65mm/.32 pistol when coming to kenya, probably find him again some months later when Karen Blixen had the rifles in the baggage

here written as B.Blixenfinechi

Found the one i was thinking of, it's earlier at 1907. Few Martini sporting rifles in there. Interesting to see the guns change between 1907 and 1914 as the makers were starting to get there bolt guns out there.

In the below link, page 400, one fellow has two 8 bore rifles.

Be interesting to see how many famous names might be listed. I think a saw a second just by a quick scan of a couple of the images

Yep, we can certainly permanently list these and how ever many more pages. Good idea.

Names I recognize in these lists -

Professional Hunters:
Dennis Finch Hatton
J.A. Hunter
L.J. Tarlton
Philip Percival

Historical personalities:
Ewart "Cape to Cairo" Grogan
Bror Blixen
Rev. Leakey (father of Louis Leakey)
A.C. Hoey (there used to be small town called Hoey's Bridge, subsequently given an African name)

I live in Kenya and also recognize ancestors of several friends and neighbors of mine who still have farms or ranches here: Stanley, Nicholson, Nightingale, Fernandes, Ray, Turner, Bastard, Beaton, Butt, Cunningham, Grant, Brown.

Lots of double shotguns back then. I am not sure how many would go over these days.
I believe that in those days birds were taken for lunch and other meals.
Would have been great times.

There has been no trophy hunting here since 1977. In the meantime, 80% of the wildlife has been eaten as bush meat. Even bird hunting was banned last year.

A very interesting document. I only picked up on Fintch Hatton.

I did notice that 10 350Rigby's were brought in, in that short time frame. Some other intersting firearms turn up as well, like a 35Rem.
