If you are referng to the .375 FI N.E 2-1/2"... QL suggests case capacity of 68 (4.415cm)

Are you the 405 Grenadier man, if so how fast can you push the 400gr in your cartridge ?
Looks like a nice round .

Hi, Sarg.
I found out what I needed to know. I am working up some loads for my Ruger single shot in .375 NE. I plan to load to the 40-42,000 psi level. The case capacity of the .375 NE 2-1/2" and the .375 JDJ are the same to within half a grain of water. That's close enough. There is a lot of JDJ data available. I will use the JDJ loading data as a baseline. I emphasize, these loads will be for my Ruger No.3 and will not be for use in any of the old rifles.
I have also commissioned a special run of 320gr .375 caliber RN bullets with thin jackets and cannelures. The bullets should be suitable for game use at .375 NE velocities. The 320gr was an original bullet for some of the old rifles but I couldn't find these bullets anywhere.
Yes, I the shoot the .405 Grenadier. I planned to shoot 400gr bullets in it but they worked out to be on the long side and go deep into the case when I keep the OAL adequate for my Marlin 1895. I am in the process of soliciting quotes to rebarrel a Mosin-Nagant in the .405 Grenadier. There is adequate room in the M-N action for the 400gr bullets seated to a reasonable depth. It has been a slow project interrupted with a couple of personal "events". But I am getting back into it gradually. Standby.

That is very interesting Grenadier, thank you, I think you could go quite a bit more in the Ruger action how ever. the JDJ is used mostly in the much lighter TC action .
Will they be any extra 320gr bullets made by the company you commissioned them from, as my Styer 375 NE takes the heavier load as well .
I will be following your project with great interest as I would like set up a Lee Speed type rifle in a 40Cal cartridge that can push a 400Gr slug to 2000, do you think your .405 Grenadier will be about to do that with safe pressure ?
I have been playing with the idea of 40/60 Maynard or 40-Krag - 40/303, maybe a shortened 405Win (with the 400grs) .

That looks like the case capacity of the .375 FL Magnum and not the .375 FL NE 2-1/2". The nomenclature is confusing but they are two different cartridges.
Does your reference provide any case and case forming information on the 2-1/2" version?

I checked again, 94 grs. The 375 h&h has a capacity of 132 grs. Obviously water capacity of the case would be much higher than any useful powder capacity.

OK, His figures are for how much water a solid case would displace not for how much water the case would hold. So the number is good for comparing cases but maybe not much else. Sorry about that. He does go on to say that a bullet in that case displaces 27.93 grs of water per inch of seating depth. Perhaps that is useful.

Gentlemen,
is the austrian 9,5x57 Mannlicher Schönauer the exact copy of the 375 2 1/2" only with a different head stamp? For the 9,5x57 M.Sch. cartridge I can measure and report the H2O case volume.
best regards Rolf

.375 Rimless is the British designation for the 9.5MS according to COTW.
