We had a fairly productive opening weekend for the elk season...
Lots of good times and now some good meat for the winter...
Gotta love Fall

Bloody hell you shit me off ... I think you posted a similar line up last year.
Just one little elkie would do me one day ...
Congratulations. Two or three of them look OK. But lying down they don't look as big bodywise as I would expect? Just an optical perspective only???

NO John, time flies when you are having fun..
Last year I only went a 2 days before I had left for the trip to Kyrgyzstan for the infamous Ibex hunt..the year prior was a good year and yes think we got 16 elk on the ground opening weekend including one really nice old bull..
a few years back we did have a similar experience with the 4 bulls on the ground..think that was back around 2009 or 10...
Elk are pretty good size and tough once you get them wound up..do NOT go down easy at that point..gutted out they can run 425 lbs and up..so on the hoof guessing 6-700 lbs --some less some more...
But yes, currently I am very fortunate to have the place to hunt that I do..

Very nicely done! I think I'm going to sit this year out. Our game and fish department screwed with areas and tag counts an awful lot for this year and kind of made a mess of things where I generally hunted for the last 10 years. Plus the weather has been too warm, you'd have to build a fire and eat it right where it dropped!
