As the story was told to me:
This is what we did this weekend. I helped the Non-resident that drew this permit in the same district that Hunter drew in. There is only one non-resident tag in this district every other year. I found this Ram; along with 3 others on Saturday, and they gave us the slip in some really busted up steep dangerous stuff. We backed off, and I re-found them Sunday morning. Glassed them from daylight; until they bedded at 12:30. Then made a play on them. Long day, but we made it happen, and they had only moved a couple hundred yards from where they were bedded. He is 40 5/8 x 38 4/8

He was a VERY lucky guy just to draw a tag for one..very very low percentage to get a tag..I drew one 4 years ago..odd of me drawing the tag was .23 of 1% --but someone has to draw it..

I don't know sheep. But he looks very heavy and thick in the horns. Is this true? A great trophy no matter what.

He is a good sheep..per the info I have received he green scores 182 and change..if he can stay above that 180 mark he makes Boone ..
In my opinion and that of many, this is one of the greatest trophies you can get in N America. Really hard to draw a tag and then to get a Boone and Crockett ram too boot is a REALLY big deal..especially for anyone going for all 4 species in N America..

Nice sheep for sure. Good and heavy on the curls. In the parks here, they get as large as 3" across the worn-off ends when broomed off at eye height. some sheep do this, while others do not. It depends on the curl and if the sheep thinks it's blocking his eye sight - or not. I'm not sure, as I've never studied nor guided for sheep, but that one looks maybe 9 or 10 years old by the annuli?

Very nice-and sounds like the hunt was a lot of work. Best kind of hunt in my book. Now the next step, hoping the taxidermist he chooses knows what he's doing with sheep.
