Bag limits.

I wonder what members think about limiting the bag of wild birds on each outing.
I will probably be shot down for this, but a couple of years ago, 5 of us shooting pink feet geese over decoys on a barley field in Scotland, got seriously carried away, and at the end of the morning flight, picked up 118 geese.
It really was a case of the 'red mist' descending, and I am not ashamed to say, the day will live with me as the best days wildfowling I have ever had.
The picture of the day's bag is pretty awesome.

How did you manage to do that.Dont they have bag limits in Scotland.I agree it must have been great fun,by the way what did you do with all that geese. We also have bag limits ,10 per gun but nobody follows it and we end up shooting till it gets too dark to see.

You better follow bag limits here. I think that I've been checked every third time I've been hunting this year. For years I was never checked (not licenses or game in possession) but now is different.

Meant to add that I see nothing wrong with that.

Well I'm hoping to do a Cape Barren geese pest shoot or two this year.

My mate Orion whom I hunted pigs with last year has been going on these shoots a few times but soon after the pig shoot the crops were too high .

Cape Barren Geese are officially protected once being endangered. But alike with many other Australian game when they become plentiful they stay protected. the mantra is "native is totally protected", "introduced is to be exterminated". That passes for wildlife management with Australian Wildlife authorities.

These Cape Barren Geese are a serious pest on some farms and they have been granted destruction permits. No limits!

Most of the shooters fly over but this means very little can be carried especially meat back. I would love to go over with a nice big cooler and fill it with goose meat. The 8 or 12 hour drive is a bit daunting though compared to a 40 minute (I think) plane flight across the gulf.

Here's hoping for 2004!

I've never been checked, but mostly we hunt pheasants and quail (3&6). I know that the waterfowl enforcement is stricter, but I've not been checked on that either.

most enforcement centers on big-game around here.
