Mars riflemaker in England

Just came across a M98 in 7x64 on egun.de trademarked " Mars" and bearing BNP mark on the barrel. Am reasonably familiar with most of the British makes but have never come across the Mars trademark.

Can anyone help with information?

7x64 is not a very likely chambering for a British made rifle!

"Mars" was the gun trademark of Neckermann, a German mail order house like Sears, during the early 1970s. Neckermann had "their" rifles assembled, most often on Santa Barbara Actions, in Birmingham.

Thanks very much for that info, Kuduae. The appearance of the rifle from the photos looks very much like Parker Hale rifles, which were made in Birmingham.
