I just got this Pape muzzle loader.
It is 45cal. but is quite slim and light weight.
I would think that this is what is commonly referred to as a "Park Rifle", correct?
If so, what would the expected charge be? I will get a good idea of the rifling twist and be back for info on whether this is a roundball gun or not. Pretty little rifle though but could use some sympathetic refurbishment.

OK! What else did you buy at this gun show? Spill it!

Nice pick up, can't assist on any questions though.

Huvius,
If it was my rifle,(I wish),I would start with 40 grains of 3F or 50 of 2F,and a patched round ball.
I don't think they were loaded very heavy, but you adjust the load up,or down till it shoots to the sights.

Huvius - VERY sympathetic refurbishment please (if I could be so forward to make the suggestion), that chequering/finish looks original and nice

Probably roundball, rglenz's starting load looks good

Very nice, I am keeping my eyes open for a Park Rifle, they are certainly very attractive, percussion or cartridge

Good luck shooting!

Tony

I will get some more pictures up soon.
They will show the iffy condition of the barrel. When you're the buyer, it is called "patina", when you are selling it is called rust...
A nice rebrown would be nice
The bore has a very rough spot in it but it seems to be smoothing out as I work it. Just patches so far since most of my stuff is boxed for the move. I think I need to maybe use some Wipe Out and give it a really good soak and scrub with a bronze brush.
The wood I am not going to mess with.
