What a lovely rifle.

I have never heard of a H&H in the 450 No.2 cartridge.

Interesting that the 500/450 3 1/4" of that time was proofed for 70 Grains Cordite whilst this No.2 has been proofed for 80 Grains.

It seems both the 500/450 3 1/4" and 500 - 3 1/4" nitro rifles H&H built around that time were for the tropical load.

Thanks for posting, Chris

Love that gun too!
Seems to me that George had it a few years ago, or at least a similar one.

Haha! Cracked me up

What would the velocity be on 80gr compared to 70?

80 grains would maybe give 2100fps in a 26" barrel from what i have read. Compared to load that regulates ok in 500/450 with 480 grain bullet just over 2000fps - some were proofed for 480gn bullet and 70 gn cordite and regulated for 365grain bullet with 70gn cordite.

Cheers, Chris
