New Zealand pizza chain has billboard made of dead rabbits

A NEW Zealand pizza chain, Hell Pizza, may be known for its crazy PR stunts, but has this billboard made of dead rabbits gone too far?

The billboard above is on numerous Kiwi motorways at the moment, as part of an advertising stunt for Hell’s new rabbit pizza.

Yep, at Easter, dead rabbits are just what little kids want to see when they’re waiting for a big bunny to come deliver chocolate.

Pre-empting the anger that would come from the billboard, Hell Pizza made a statement on its Facebook page defending the billboards, pointing out that “while being a delicious meat, rabbits are a noted pest that is damaging to the New Zealand environment”.

But that only made their Facebook fans angry.

“[this is] absolutely disgusting. Anyone who thinks this is funny and is a great form of advertising are delusional,” commented one angry Kiwi.

Even the New Zealand Vegetarian Society, which endorses Hell Pizza, took to commenting, saying how they’ve approved Hell’s vegetarian range in the past, but they find this advertising “deplorable”.

What do you think of the billboard? Have they gone too far? Let us know in the comments below.

That's seemingly out in left field, imho.
I wouldn't call it deplorable - except for this time of year, perhaps?

I was out hunting on Saturday - and caught this little bugger sneaking around the back 40 acres.

Rabbits are tasty. Never thought of making pizza with one though.

TKS - I didn't take the picture, nor is it my bunny. I fibbed. I thought it would make a funny post, fairly in line with the thread's picture of the rabbit sign board about rabbit pizza.

One of our black powder shooters did indeed shoot the snow-shoe hare with the rifle pictured leaning on his misery slippers and sure enough it was at Easter time, few years back. When posted on ALR site, he did apologize for shooting
"Peter" or the Easter Bunny, or whomever it was.

Neil's a long-time retired gentleman who still beats us regularly with this (and his) flinter built, of course, by my brother - BTW - it's his Wife's rifle, a .40. He uses his rifle, quite similar but in .45 cal., for deer.

BTW- rabbit makes a FANTASTIC sweet and sour stew. Make it normally with the addition of vinegar and canned pineapple chunks. Ohhhh - ymmmm.

perfectly sensible use of a bunch of dead coneys IMHO, both the billboard and the pizzas.

No little kid who still believes in the easter bunny is ever going to equate a furry billboard with his or her fantasy of the chocolate-egg-laying rabbit.....

...unless their rat-bag sh!t-stirring anti-hunting parents actually point it out to them!

Do they want to make a statement or do they want to sell pizzas?

Hmmmmmm.....rabbit on pizza? I guess so, as long as they can make it taste like bacon.
