Won't see one like this in every hunting camp! This one is several years in the making. I always liked the idea of the .376 Steyr as a medium range .375 "Lite" for heavy North American game but absolutely detest the factory Steyr rifles that chamber it. Finally decided to put together my own vision of an all weather .376.
It started life as an Interarms Mark X '06 picked up in a pawn shop for $250. Sent it to McGowen for conversion and installation of their #5 contour chrome moly finished at 20.5". It then went to NECG for their Masterpiece fully adjustable rear and Holland & Holland style front with fine silver bead and flip over twilight bead. Stock is B&C Medalist that had to be inletted for the thicker barrel. Stock was then dipped in Reaper Black "Skull-Flage" (I'm still a kid at heart). Final step was to send to Robar for NP3 finish. It finally came back from Robar a couple days ago after a 4 1/2 month wait. Scope is Leupold VX-R 2-7x with illuminated German #4 in Warne QD mounts finished in NP3. Went way beyond my proposed budget but I'm pretty happy with the finished product.
I now have to get it out to the range now and I pray it shoots as good as it looks! I have a fair amount of 270 gr factory loads, but I have scrounged up several boxes of the discontinued Hornady 270 gr round nose bullets that I want to be the heart of my "bear loads." I'm going to try to do a black bear hunt in 2015 to put it to its intended use. In the meantime, I'll try to use it on some localized piggage!

Ha ha, the stock finish is very funny.  Can I borrow a photo or more to post on the Society of Gentlemen Adventurers group? Where the logo is a skull and cross-rifles.
Different stock finish, takes some guts to do that and hunt with it. 
You need one of those "skull" safety buttons like I posted on a previous thread too.

Excellent calibre choice. For bear, deer and indeed, elk and moose, I'd choose the 225 Hornady bullet at from 2,800fps to 2,900fps - any range to 350yards. For grizzlies a 250 Premium to 300 cup and core would be my choice.
Good ctg. Bonanza also has one.

Alas, here in Europe, the .376 Steyr didn't receive the attention it deserves.

You mentioned the old 270RN Hornadys - noted to be a tougher bullet (I've never shot anything with them myself) than the 300gr. RN. Well done - but I personally think the 270 RN's should be kept for heavier game, with the 225 or softer bullet for lighter, more easily killed game.
A local lad, brother of my best friend, using the first 9.5x68 we put together, used a 250 Barnes X for all his hunting, from deer to grizzlies. That barrel, now retired, has over 15,000 rounds through it and I have it in the dead barrel bin, although now modified into a different wildcat altogether that I tested briefly on a Styer 8x56R action. Point is, the 250 Barnes X and now the improved TSX will do it all.
I am currently loading and shooting 270gr. TSX (copper pencils) in my .375/06IMP at 2,650fps - cloverleafs at 100 meters - BLC2 & H4895 is the powder of choice for all bullet weights. My .375 chambering has 78-80gr. capacity, just a gr. or so under the .376 Styer. Loading data will be quite similar.

After you've gotten some range time with it, let us know how you like that 30mm 2-7x scope.
I'm looking at the same Leupy model for my 300H&H Ruger #1, but am still stuck over which reticle to choose.
I'm looking at the illum. German #4 (yours) or the illum. Circle Firedot, the latter having some mil-hashes for quick hold-over references once you've established zero at a known distance w/ the crosshairs. On the other hand, the #4 has the "cleaner" reticle for a quick shot.

Hey,
I think the .376 Steyr is more popular than most think. Daryl summed it it succinctly, great cartridge. I took a large Eland back in 2011 with a 270 Swift A-Frame @ 2500 fps.
