A Gen-U-ine "Assault Pistol"
      #246045 - 20/04/14 04:55 AM

Makes one glad to live in free states ! Feinstein would need a case of Depends for this "criminal weapon".

These have been out a while but had some bugs to be worked out Now they are getting A+ reviews so I jumped in.

With 61 22 WMRs any fight that could not be stopped is not one to be in.

Ammo cost (now) is about the same as bargain 9x19.

Gives up about 300 fps to 5.7x28 with a 30 gr bullet, but is available with 40 & 50 gr as well.

Both guns and ammo are far less expensive. Nice CC pistol in hot humid Florida.

Wouldn't be my first choice for a CC (nor in my top 5), however, I suppose it's better than nothing. If it were me, for CC I'd stoke it with Speer Gold Dot SB 40gr. HP ammunition.

That's a pretty cool toy. I just read a review of it and would love to play with one.

I didn't know about this gun until you posted.

How do you like it, and what can you report about function and accuracy?

One more observation. The review mentioned difficulty loading the magazine to the full 30 rounds. If you think this is bad, try loading an Uzi magazine to 32 rounds.

Check out loading devices made by MagLula. These are wonderful. I have them for my Uzi and for my M16 (9mm and 5.56mm both). Loading is child's play with one of these great devices. You might keep an eye out for them to make it for this little magazine.

Having been shot at makes a difference in choice of CC handguns especially when compared to any snubbie or low cap
compact semi auto.

Escape is always the best option. Lay down fire and escape is #2. Running dry in a 5-6 shot compact whatever is the worst option.

Shot against a pal who has one. I had my full size ancient Kimber (made in OR) 1911 45 ACP with 180 premium self defense loads.

At 10 yards, he was able to triple tap ( 2 torso one head) in the same time it took me to get one in the torso. Both were from Kydex hostered guns. We swapped and the outcome was the same.

After the drill, I had 7 left, he had 28.

This (loaded) weighs about the same as my Chief's Special Airweight, won't rust and even has a laser/light rail.

The Marines didn't want M-1s until they got them ….. perhaps a lesson there.

Of course only those who served are qualified to offer an opinion on that.

On what, M-1's? Or your .22wmr for conceal carry?

In either case, do you honestly believe that your non-comabat service in the US Air Force somehow qualifies your opinion over anyone else, especially those that didn't serve?

I myself proudly served 8 years in the US Army, and grew up a military brat (father was a career soldier....bled OD green) and wouldn't make that arrogant and condescending remark as there's plenty of people with much more experience that didn't serve in the military.

Whenever someone doesn't agree with you Larry, you tend to make snide comments and come across as rude and condescending. Not everyone will agree or see things from the same perspective. If you choose to carry a .22wmr for your conceal carry protection, then by all means "carry-on".

Neat toy you picked up. Thanks for sharing.

The PMR 30 is far from ideal choice to CC, as is any 22, mag or not. It makes a nice toy and something to plink with the kids, nothing more.

CC in certainly an individual choice.

There isn't much, if any data on the effect of multiple vital area hits from 22WRM.

Interesting to note that a 40 gr bullet from a 223 has only 33 pounds more energy @400 yards than a WRM 40 @7.

Lots of chucks and medium predators have been waxed at 400 by a 40 223.

As an aside, it is annoying that one member makes a point of always refering to me by name while keeping his a secret. IMO any other member here, if they felt so strong about about another member as to constantly engage in argumentum ad hominem, would welcome the opportunity to work out their differences FTF. I know I would.
Just an observation on character my Father taught me.

Speaking of Dad, everyone who served is due the thanks of their nation. My meaning was far more narrow. Those who have been shot at on the ground with deadly intent and who have returned the intent are those of whom I speak.
His backup to his M-1 and 1911 was a High Standard Military B that did see a bit of action when he won his DSC in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest. (CO Co K, 109th, 28th Division). Even a 22 RF will kill Germans.

CC is like scotch and women …… no right answer but a lot of interesting choices.

Dad's 1911 & HS B

How great it must be to have your fathers pistols from WWII as part of your own collection, outstanding. You must be very proud.
Living in Feinstein's home state owning the PMR 30 is out of the question at least with a 30rounder inserted. I will have to be content with my 45 Sentinel.

Agree 100%. And it was not only Larry Root's protagonist who thought that statement was bullshit.

The armed forces don't have the lethal encounter market cornered.
Furthermore one does not need to take gunfire to qualify for an opinion on their choices for self protection equipment.

Also the ballistic fantasy of that pistol equaling 40gr 223 @ 400yds is nonesense.
First off expect 1300fpsMV from the featured pistol (numerous chrono results)
Expect 1900fps from the 223 @ 400yds (typical 40gr varmint load)

...and I'd stand behind one .45acp any day - although I will and do at times carry a rimfire in place of *nothing*, and I would not stand in front of a .22

BTW if someone was using a .223 for self defence, offence or whatever, who on earth would load up ammo with 40 gr bullets .... unless they were facing dangerous rabbits ...

The top bullet is a 380 Auto 90 gr. Critical Defense round at 896 fps from a 2.75" barrel Ruger LCP. The bottom bullet is a 22 WMR 45 gr. Critical Defense round from a S&W 351 PD with a 1-7/8" barrel at 1038 fps.

PMR30 bbl length 4.3", 1280 fps (per NRA test), capacity 31

Ruger capacity 8 with extension magazine.

The PMR is a 100 yard capable gun, the LCP is not.

Give a PMR a try and tell me what's not to like.

Read it ALL and watch the whole video. I used only CCI ammo, 2 full magazines, not a single problem.
