Want a high condition gun (realize stock finish will show crazing). Internet prices are few and crazy, more than a pre war M70 300 H&H. (No 300 H&H Safaris have sold in months and months)
I buy real auction catalogs and prices realized on most guns are down 30-50% since Obama, so please understand that we are in a depression with real unemployment edging 20%.

Assume you know something about Safair production numbers and the salt wood problem ?
If so, you already know the answer, if not find a copy of Browning Sporting Arms of Distinction: 1903-1992 by Matt Eastman and you could learn why they are not a WalMart.

Just picked it up and it literally "as new, no box".
Snapped a couple of quick pics to share my happiness !

Now four 30 Supers in the safe.

Very nice!
I have only one 30 Super (a Boddington Kudu), but I can see how a fellow would want more than one!

Yes it's a great cartridge. According to Waters the most efficient 30 caliber Magnum. Feeding is always like a greased banana, unlike some of its rivals.
My No. 1 was a red pad B model that a fellow had started to convert to a classic English look single shot. He had had the rechambering done, the "Ruger ears" on the front of the action ground off and the gun rust blued. He put it up for sale on the campfire and I bought it. My stock maker added ebony fillers for the AH fore end I bought on Ebay (NIB from Canada !) I also added the King Reflector ramp front sight (1930s), a custom trigger and the barrel band. Now "velly English, old chap." Put a Leupold 6X on it and it shoots very well with factory ammo w/no tuning.

Local chap (now departed friend of mine) from Smithers won the 1,000yard bench rest contest shot across the frozen lake at Burns Lake one year with a #1 in .300 H&H. His group, obviously very flukey, was 1 1/2" on centres - that 'record' was made back in the 80's and will stand for many years, or until someone else shoots a fluke-group that's tighter. That particualr #1 was a good one, however and never failed to shoot sub inch at 100 yards - seems yours is too.

Thanks, it is plenty accurate for any hunting I will ever use it for. My M 70 Bull Gun in 300 H&H, would have put those 3 in fact 5 in one hole. But it's no "walk about" rifle although it did go to Perry twice and to the Weatherby shop for the fancy checkering.

Is that or Winchester M70, ie as per the original WTB post, or what? Thanks.

Nitro, The bolt gun with the BalVar 6-24 on it is a M 70 Winchester Bull Gun 300 H&H.
The WTB was for a 300 H&H no salt Browning (FN) Safari. It is the one with no scope.
What a great site. I'm sending all adults I know here to join !
Another Super 30. 721 in 700 Classic stock (yes I have the original 721AC iron sight stock too) Why a 721 ? 26" barrel and far smoother action than any non custom shop contemporary 700.

Here's #5, a 700 DGR converted from 375 H&H to 30 Super with a 25" Shielen barrel.
All cerrakote. Cerracoated bolt was botched up (by former owner) and replaced with an old polished (smooth) 700 Bolt, SAKO extractor and headspace corrected. Still and all cost less than a new DGR.

I've been thinking that a takedown dakota or HS Precission in 300 H&H would be the perfect companion gun for a double on safari.
That Ruger number one would be awesome as a takedown (remove rear stock).
Food for thought, to bad I'm a rifle glutton.

Rell, thanks. To make a No.1 a takedown would probably best be approached at the barrel action joint. A friend, major single shot collector, has quite a few British T/D single shots and some are shown in Winfer's books as well. A fun project and no reason why "minute of Kudu" should not be achieved.
I enjoy showing my guns and chatting with other adults engaged in the shooting sports. Too bad everyone is not of a like mind.

That's the way I used to transport my Ruger No.1 .375 H&H to Africa and back. Once I asked a top grade "name" master gunsmith, maker of true takedowns and detachable stock takedowns, both bolt actions and single shots, about building a takedown rifle for myself. He said: "I know you are an apt user of turnscrews and other tools. Why do you need a takedown?"

Members of NE please note.
People on NE are judged by how they act here. Not on some other scummy toxic websites are fights are celebrated and encouraged.
Troublemaking posts deleted.
I am moving this thread to a general RIFLE thread soon as it is no longer a classified thread, but a general discussion one.

John, thanks for the deletes and moving the post. Sad to say neither of the "members" have relented in their off topic posts and PMs.
It is sad that such a fine site as this is being pollutes by people with an agenda they are carrying from other sites dominated by trolls.
That's all I have to say on the subject.
