What designates stamp "Ch15"; "Ch50"; "Ch72"; on original sports Mausers of production of the 1930th years?

According to Jon Speed these stamps are factory internal codes for the barrel steel lot used.

as Kuduae indicates their purpose is to assure in-house quality control for all Mauser original commercial production - most commonly, barrel blanks in semi-finished form were supplied to Mauser direct from steel manfacturers from steel lots that were tested for conformity with designated specification
