IMO Oberndorf style floorplate with release lever, double set trigger and Mannlicher type bolt handle belongs to different rifle than skeleton grip cap & safari style barrel sling swivel. First three are typical for german and austrian classic rifles but last two mainly safari styled ones.

Thanks for your thoughts, but IMO its my rifle to build as I like , not you.

IMO if one asks for advice and suggestions on a forum such as this, one should be more polite towards those people who take the effort to post a reply. If one doesn't like the suggestions people give, maybe one shouldn't post questions.

Too bad he deleted this. Would have been an interesting project regardless of the mixing of styles.

At least he was not suggesting he was going to bolt on one of those horrible European side mounts on to it.....

headoftheholler,

I have done quite the same many years ago in my innocent days, "mixing styles"....
Got an M98 action with a "spoon handle" from a Ferlach-trained gunsmith,
then had a quite heavy and 26'' Douglas barrel installed, .30-06.
The mix was completed by a Recknagel front sight ramp, a barrel band for the front swivel and an expensive adjustable rear sight from Brownells which was called "Win. 70 .458 style".
Plus a side-swing safety, Timney trigger and a titanium firing pin...
no skeleton grip cap, though..
That rifle admittedly is no beauty but always worked well for me, and still doesn't look too bad to carry.

I will post pics down the road when done. I do appreciate any helpful comments or suggestions, but to be honest I am building this rifle for myself in the way I feel it should be built, not in any "Austrian" or "Germanic" ect style, its in my style which can be eclectic at times. I have had a suggestion elsewhere on a cartridge trap but I still need to nail down which style of irons to use and type of buttplate or recoil pad.
