Mauser swing off scope mounts and rings

Recently I found these Mauser manufactured bases and 1" rings on ebay in Germany; presently they are mounted on my Model M Mauser. They are well made

I do not see these bases in Speed's books

does anyone know their history? pre-war or post-war?

When i got the Model M it was already drilled and tapped for standard Weaver type bases; the Mauser bases fit perfectly.

mine are clearly marked with the Mauser logo, mauser in an oblong ring. Hopefully my images will be posted shortly. I assume only Mauser can use its trade name

These Mauser marked swing mounts are from the 1989 - 1995 period, when Mauser stamped their logo on nearly anything bought in to make a profit. AFAIK these mounts were made for Mauser in then Yugoslawia. They were offered as a "factory option" with the Zastava made "Model 98", see Jon Speed: Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles, page 401.
