What a delightful little falling block.
Interesting one piece stock design. I like it.

Interesting to see the shops some of these guns are actually put together in. Agree on the falling block.

The falling block rifle is actually an original George Gibbs design.
2 were originally made many years ago, then about 20 years ago I made one for them in .357 magnum.
This has only recently been finished by Mark Crudgington who currently owns George Gibbs.
I then made the one you see in the film which is in 5.6x50r.I changed the action very slightly from the original to make it work better but if you look inside it is still very recognizable as proper Farquharson rifle.
It is about the same size as a normal minaiture Farquharson.

Agree 100%
I love to watch gunmakers at work. Some things are much better seen to be understood as opposed to simply reading about it.

Great little falling block rifle, very nice, however it never ceases to amaze me how little the people who give these interviews actually know about gunmaking or guns in general. I have watched a lot of these sort of interviews which are conducted by shooting and gun related magazines or websites and the interviewer often knows less about guns than my eight year old daughter. Some of the questions they ask are so stupid it is embarrassing to watch, and most of the time they don't really listen to what is being said as they are to busy trying to think of some funny comment to make, which most of the time is just dumb. That particular interview does not do justice to the gunmakers skill at all.

Agree 100% with that as well...
I guess they expect that their viewers are quite uninformed. Sadly, they are mostly correct...

Your 450/400 Jeffery didn't go unnoticed either pugwash.

That is an unusual shape boxlock action for a british double with the scalloped rear. I understand Jeffery had his guns made by the trade. Are you familiar with who made the action on this one?

Hi Rhodes,

Sorry I cant help you with that one.If you have a trawl around on the internet you will find other Jeffery rifles of the same shape. It certainly isn't the usual and the build quality is very good.It doesn't have the heavy shape across the top of the action like most Jeffery boxlocks you see and is more like a finely built boxlock shotgun.Balances beatifully and handles like a dream.Unfortunatley I cant shoot it cos the chambers are knackered.

Thanks for all the comments and I hope people can see that you dont need a factory and fancy machines to build a great gun or rifle.

Mark
