Pre-WW1 Westley Richards 1" scope and mounts

i have a Westley richards 1' scope numbered 63744; it is similar to early German scopes, but there is no maker's name. it seems to be about 3 power, with a coarse cross hair reticle. The focus and elevator work fine.

The scope mounts are unusual; both have a dovetail below the scope ring with an adjusting screw on a flat bar. I don't see how the bar would be attached to the bridge

I've done my best to post images but failed; if someone will email me I will send the images for posting. My email is dt5745@telus.net

I bought this scope because i thought i could adapt it for an early Rigby Mauser in 7x57 but it is sold, and i will offer it for sale. any ideas of value will be appreciated

Obviously a Skopar "Beta" by Voigtländer, Brunswick, Germany. This scope was advertized by Westley-Richards in their 1912 catalog, page 137, at 12 pounds 12 shillings, mounted on any W-R rifle. To me the mount looks like a homemade job, using some leftover parts. It is very unusual to have windage adjustments both front and rear. Those soldered-on half-rings are of different width and finish. The base was probably meant to be soldered to the rib or barrel of a break-open or falling block, maybe a rook and rabbit rifle. Certainly the mount was added later, not by W-R.

BTW, a trace of a former mount is visible under the word "Richards" in the last photo.
