LOoks great to me! I like the engraving on the mag floor plate, not too much to be obnoxious. Did you rust blue or what?, I am playing with the rust blue for my Swede floor plate and bolt release before I try the whole thing.

It would be a great time to turn the larger step on the barrel into an octagonal profile. If you can believe it, I once draw filed on to that contour, but certainly recommend milling. Just a thought to trim it up and reduce weight. Steve

Yes, rust bluing all the way. As for weight even with the full stock with just 16" of barrel it is very very light.

Woodwork is nearing completion on Project Mannlicher. Next time we see it should have some great checkering.

Got first coat of finish in the new checkering, picked up a nice Leupold M8 fixed 4x for it as well. Only thing we are waiting on is the bolt handle which is a figured walnut ball to match the stock.

Bolt work is done. Bolt handle is walnut root and should match the stock nicely.

Thank you Lancaster. I know that most people on this forum won't appreciate or like the finished product as it does not fall into a particular category, i.e. British or Austrian or German. I am fine with that. All the aforementioned rifles from each country are beautiful in their own right. This rifle is American, like the country, a melting pot of cultures, this rifle has various traits from different rifles in what I believe looks good. This is my first custom build, and I'm sure I will learn from whatever mistakes I made to make myself better.
