Kimber rifles

They look like a great rifle; CRF, match grade barrel and chamber, 3 position wing safety, pillar and glass bedded action with recoil lug, free floated barrel, and adjustable trigger. All this for approx $917 US (model 84M Classic). Has anyone had any experience with one? Does anyone know if they plan to come out with a standard action length rifle?

I forgot to mention that they are guaranteed to shoot .4 inch at 100 yards from factory.

The 8400 is the next size up.84M is smaller comes in 243,7mm-08, 308.8400 will get you the 300wsm,7mmwsm,270wsm and the new 325wsm coming out this spring.They do shoot great and are very nice rifles,I really like my 308 84M.They have nice wood too.Get one it will quickly become a favorite.I highly recommend them.

The 8400 has a larger bolt face but the action length is still the same as the 84M. Hopefully they will come out with a standard action length rifle as I'm not a big fan of the WSM family, however I'm glad to hear possitive things about the rifle.

Hey adam,iam with you,I would love to have one in 30-06
270,280,7x57,338wm.What caliber would you like one in.I havent bought the 300wsm for the same reason and wondered how many other folks would have bought there rifle in standard length action.There are some older ones out there but I really doubt they will have anything we want in the 8400.I have been thinking about the 325wsm though.I will see how everyone likes them,I wonder how the recoil will be,I bet it kicks like a mule!As far a wood goes I have seen the regulargrade stocks more pretty than some of the higher priced guns with higher grade wood,They really make nice socks and put some of that great wood on there lower priced units...I just never figure out any bad stuff on a kimber rifle,but nobody owns them or talks about them any?Maybe they are just not sold everywhere and hard to get?I have yet to hold a 8400 rifle......I asked about the 325 and was told this spring maybe,,,,

Maybe someone here knows but I think they limit their production, but at the same time they are not as big as Ruger, Winchester, Remington etc and have not been around as long. The rifles are more expensive off the shelf, so there is the price point difference, but I think here you get what you pay for. As for caliber choice, you listed some good examples.

Adam, I really like my 84m in 308 and probley is my favorite all round go to rifle.I dont know if i will buy a 8400 especialy since they only come in the wsm calibers.Most of my shoots are inside 200 yrds.-100yrds.I feel well Armed with a 308 and really wouldnt gain that much with a 300?If I do I will get the 325wsm....

I like the 308 however I feel I would be under gunned for some of the places I go.

while I like the old ones better, I do have an 84 is 260. it's a nice light hunting rifle for smaller stuff. It does have an affinity to being cleaned however. after about 12-15 rounds the groups open up from about 1 minute to about 4. run a cleaning brush and patch through is and it immediately returns. One of these days when I get the ambition and cause together I'm going to firelap it and see what happens, but in the meantime it's still one of the prettiest rifles out there for a reasonable pricetag

Am Iright in hinking that Kimber rifles started off in Australia and then moved to the US? If so, is the company still owned by Australians?

When the WSM cartridges first came out, I ask "why". But I did some reading about the new Kimber M8400 and lo and behold I became the owner of a new M8400 in 300WSM. I am totally impressed with this rifle (and cartridge). It is of high quality- operation and fit/finish. It is highly accurate with all weights of bullets I've tried-150, 165, 180, and 200 (Nosler partitions).I would put it on par with the standard Dakota- at about one fourth the price.
