A handy trick re Tru-oil
      #232555 - 16/07/13 04:31 AM

You all know what a pain in the arse Tru-Oil is for drying out and clogging the threads on the bottle and the cap. I know all about storing the bottles upside down but it still happens. This was shown to me months ago and it works absolutely perfectly. Next time you get a new bottle, after you remove the plastic screw-on cap, DO NOT REMOVE THE FOIL SEAL on the top of the bottle's neck. Instead, take something pointy, a sharpened lead pencil works perfectly, and poke a hole, about 1/8" in diameter, in the centre of that foil seal. From here on, just dispense the oil through that hole. When you are finished, wipe off the top of the foil with a paper towel or a clean rag, and re-install the lid. I've been using the same bottle for months now, since I was shown this trick, and it is still like new. I'm not even bothering with the upside-down storage any more, because it's not needed. The cap seals hermetically against the foil, just as it left the factory. TRY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT!!!!

Thank you Ron for sharing that idea. I just threw away another part of a bottle that had gummed up to such an extent that it was unuseable. I have had to do this several times. I'll try this trick next time for sure. If it is not too badly clumped up, you can strain the leftover oil through a piece of your wife's pant hose or nylons stockings. Bob

Thanks for that trick, Ron. I'm still using a big bottle of the stuff I bought a looong time ago - haven't used it for at least a year, perhaps I should check it - HA!
