30R Blaser is, as said, neat round but ready-made ammos and even shells are quite expensive here in europe. As you can see, it has been designed so that if you have a .30-06 rifle which you, for reason or other, want to convert for rimmed case, 30R Blaser is an easy answer, itīs just bigger enough in all dimensions.

Like I said, a neat round indeed =P If I'm building a double gun I want to go for a classic safari caliber though I think.

There is not some many "classic safari" .30 cal rimmed shell ammos so yours rifle should have .300 H&H flanged. KYNOCH sells them.

I have a 450 NE that was converted from a 12 ga JP Sauer. It's a fine shooting rifle.
IIRC the Simpson is the same but with a different name attached.

So I've heard. I'm still considering options. How about barrel taper, by the way? I much prefer the balance of English doubles with the heavily tapered barrels (thick in the rear so to speak) versus most of the continental doubles I've handled (Krieghoff, Merkel, etc.) which seem to be a fairly straight taper rear to front and tend to feel a bit front heavy
