Saw this this morning.
On a Magnum length Oberndorf square bridge in .280 Ross. The only issue I could see with this gun is the bolt handle alteration and of course that it is in .280. The action magazine is very tapered (just as my Gibbs 280 is) so choices for a rebarrel using the stock magazine may be limited to .375H&H. Maybe a 404 but pretty sure a 416 would need a wider box at the front. The bolt dace would need to be redone in any case since the .280 has a bigger rim dia. than most. A good deal IMO

Interesting.
Also, interesting perspective, to me it doesn't look like a Magnum Mauser.

Just the perspective of it. Normally a Magnum Mauser jumps out at me, this one didn't.

500Nitro, just have a look at the position of the front recoil crossbolt in relation to the receiver ring.

Yep! That is the quick way to tell. The crossbolt is right in line with the rear edge of the front ring because the lug for the front action screw is in the middle of the receiver ring underside. On a standard length action, it will be right in the middle of the front ring as the lug is located farther forward. That is why the bottom metal screw hole spacing is the same on both the standard and magnum actions.

Good way to tell.
As I said, "perspective".

Slightly off track, but anyone here know of a current source of scope-mounts like those on the Evans? Particularly the concave side-contours and overall "vintage" appearance. My friend Bart has a Jeffery original .404 on a 98 action that came to him with a cheap commercial bridge-mount: he would dearly love to chuck it into the river at high tide! (the mount, that is! ) He is reluctant to attempt filing-up proper mounts from scratch, but needs a scope due to declining ophthalmic acuity!
PM suggestions if you like, rather than hijacking this thread. Thanks

Thanks for posting the pictures. My photobucket is acting up so I was unable to.
I did, however, look at it on Cabela's site and found it also has a full length case! Nice bonus!
