Williams Evans from Purdy...
      #230693 - 31/05/13 01:07 AM

Hi friends,

as some of you know:
I had written some articles about hunting, guns, some about english guns.

I write in the moment about an old german hunter.
He lives from 1950 - 1970 in Tansania as an "Elephant-Officer" and as an hunter.

He has an old "William Evans from Purdy" (this is engraved of the barrels, also the caliber .450 No. 2) double rifle.
With the number 69XXX.

QUESTIONS:
Has anybody some Infos about this gun?
Or the same modell?
Or?

Thank you.

The Hunter

...of course I had written to William Evans (no answere) and to Purdey (answere is following):

Dear XXXX,

Thank you for your email which Pippa has forwarded to me.

Unfortunately I have to advise you that the rifle is not made by Purdey, but is made by William Evans Gunmakers. William Evans used to work for Purdey in the 1800s and so when he started to make guns and rifles on his own he used to put William Evans “from Purdey” on his products.

As such, I recommend that for a history or for more information, you should contact William Evans Ltd, whose details can be found on their website http://www.williamevans.com/

I am sorry I cannot help you more about this rifle.

Kind regards
