Hmmm, tghe .442 Long is a great lion hunting cartridge (wel, if you have death wish). It is somewht more powerful than a Red Rider BB gun

Wow, I can only guess what that thing will go for.

It won't be headed to my house.

That a nice one. If someone here buys it, you should petition Cpt. CURLY for his cast bullet plinking load.

Surely this is a converted muzzle loader.
Very fascinating as it still has the hooked breech and the original case modified to fit the new Snider patent breech!
That could explain the Lion engraving - perhaps it was a 450 in its previous life and the Snider breech, pushing the chamber forward some inches, made the 442 the logical choice.

Very very cool in my book.

I agree, converted ML which was the best design for a ML ever made.

anyone knows about the Hagn SNs, don't believe he ever made 883030 guns.
does it means rifle number 88 in caliber 30-30?

The can PCP cane is very interesting. Reallt like the Hagn rigle.

That Snider appears to have a Mauser variation action.

I don't think so, to me it looks more like a self cocking chassepot

the mauser brothers were working for the remington agent norris since 1868 in Liege on different projects. the most important was to modified the 1866 chassepot into self cocking and for metallic cartridges. this results in the end in the german mauser 71 model.
the DNA of the chassepot is to find in the mauser action.

the snider cartridge rifle looks to me like another pre 1870 trial.
