No Worries. Couple of nice Gibbs rifles. Engraving is to my taste. Must say the photography from that auction site is absolutely top hole.

Single shot rifle Anton Antonitsch - Ferlach cal. about 9.8mm
https://auctions.springer-vienna.com/en/...p;currentpos=87

Single shot rifle J. Dickson & Son - Edinburgh - Hartmann & Weiss Rook Rifle cal. 5,6 x 50 R
https://auctions.springer-vienna.com/en/...p;currentpos=88

Barrel length 66 cm (26"), stock length 36 cm (14.25"), total length 109 cm (43"), weight 2.88 kg, year of manufacture unknown, English German proof, condition 2. Barrel bore condition very good. Slide-in rear sight and front sight, hook-on mounting with Swarovski Habicht 4 telescope, top of the barrel straightened as a matted rib, color-hardened housing with Arabesque engraved, single trigger, slide tang safety, intensively grained stock, fine checkering, ebony finish, pistol grip, plastic cap. The system of an original Rook Rifle modified by using a slide-in barrel (barrel) - Caliber adjustment to 5.6x50R. Changes to the weapon supposedly carried out by Hartmann & Weiss Hamburg (company name engraved on barrel hook).

Gotta love those hammer guns with horn trigger guards and pistol grips!!
The others are OK, too.

Can somebody explain the odd stock on the Dickson rook rifle. The comb flute is well behind the grip cap. Big hands??

Not sure. There is a timber inlay in that area which is also unusual. May have been altered for some reason, or damaged?

Good eye. Maybe someone will come along and provide enlightenment.

I'm thinking the comb was notched for a folding peep sight and since it is now scoped, the wood was filled and smoothed over.

Would that have placed the sight behind the hand? Anybody ever seen another set up as suggested? Interesting LOP not mentioned.

It would be something as was done to this Fraser here:

https://www.hallowellco.com/Alex%20Henry%20-%20Dan%27l%20Fraser%20falling%20block%20rifle.htm

The sight isn't really behind the hand but about the same place.
On this Fraser, the comb wasn't cut out to fold the sight staff back but I think the H&H above was.
Plus, sights aren't sized to the rifle so a tang sight on a Rook takes up a little more area than it does on the average full sized rifle.
