Gentlemen, I am inquiring on the existence on any good references on Lee Speed Sporting Rifles. I have a good number of British sporting rifle books but the Sporting Enfield receives but scant attention (typically just a photo reference). I am assuming that the Ian Skennerton book on the Lee Enfield is restricted to the military configurations. Greatly appreciate any guidance you may provide.
Thank you

Hi CWJ1898,
As you may presume from the lack of response there is no dedicated reference. Skennerton makes scant reference and some good photographs but not worth buying the book. Skennerton also publishes a reprint of the BSA 1912 catalogue which is well worth it's price. A contributor to this forum (jc5) I believe is gathering material for a book but such a labour of love can be a long time coming.
Regards - Rowdy

Yes, I'm working very hard on it. The draft is almost 200 pages so far. Looking at an early 2014 publication date.

CW: As Rowdy hints, we "colonials" also keenly await jc5's book on what is arguably the most underrated British sporter in history.
You may have seen Skennerton's short magazine article many years ago, already up on the NE forums here.
Apologies for the small print, should re-do that upload a bit larger for those of us with "mature" eyesight!
The fine No.1 pattern rifle pictured in that article still resides in my gunsafe, BTW. A truly marvelous thing!

Connected to this topic, I don't believe I've ever seen Lee Speeds referenced in any of the old timer's books. Have I missed any?
