I am going to see if I can get this rifle to regulate. I will have it out tomorrow and see what happens. I will include some photos here. Forgive the less than clear shots. the animals are a fox on one side and a bird dog on the other. There are a couple of birds in the grass around the dog. The engraving seems odd for a double rifle.

I would be interested to hear if anyone knows of other firearms by this company or has information about this company.

Thank you,

Douglas R. Mays

Curl,
It is 9.3x74R. The barrels are approx. 25.5"; weight is 8.25lbs. I will try to get a clear picture of the proof marks and other markings later this evening.

Here are a couple more photos. I had it out today using IMR4064 (various charges) and Speer 270's. R and L were crossing approximately 1.5" at 50 yards. R is printing higher than the L with the above components(~2" to ~3"). When time allows I will put together some other loads and try those.

seroadglide,

I have good luck with H4350 in my 9.3x74.

It looks like yours is regulated for 15 gram bullets. I am surprised you are getting the Speer 270's to cross. You must be putting a pretty hefty charge in it.

Have you tried any 232 grain (15 gram) bullets?

My rifle is regulated for 15 gram bullets. I am using the 235 grain Hawk bullet with 70.0 grains of H4350 and a CCI 250. This load shoots well and seems to be very moderate pressure.

Good luck with your rifle.

I read this as:Voss and Co. Stolp I(N) P(ommern)

the 1913 Teschner & Collath calalog list only a gunmaker C.Mainzer, wonder if such a little town have had 2 gunmaker. Maybe Voss was the successor of Mainzer?
Pommern is the area on the cost of the baltic see from big Ruegen island going east.

In my Chapuis with 270 Speers 59 grains of RL 15 shoots good.
With the 286 Nosler Partition, 286 Woodleigh Soft, and the 285 Hawk ,035jkt they all hit to the same place to 200 yards with 65 grains of IMR 4831, Federal Mag primer.
Start a few grains lower and work up.

Judging from the engraving, it may have been a two barrel set when new...shotgun or cape gun as the other set. It may have been regulated with a heavy scope in claw mounts, also. If it doesn't shoot heavier bullets well, that might well be the case. If so, I'd try the 235's at a good clip. I have had my best luck with 4064 powder in my 9,3X74R's.

Nice DR! I wish I owned it, and you had a better one...
