Simmons Mannlicher Schoenauer mount

At a time in the distant past Simmons wasn't just a name stuck on Chinese junk scopes. I just bought a Simmons, made in Australia Mannlicher Schoenauer bridge mount. It appears that the base only attaches to holes tapped into the front receiver bridge and hangs freely over the action from there. The rings must attach with a stud inserted from the underside of the base. Do any of you guys in Australia know anything about Simmons mounts made down there? I'm not sure I want to drill holes in my Mannlichers but if I aquire one that is already drilled it might be interesting to pursue.

Looks to be one of the Hillver mounts. They were marketed under a variety of names. Hillver, Lynx, Tasco......and apparently Simmons.

Great system. The studs are inserted from underneath and the rings hold on via a pair of grub screws. Very strong.

Have not seen on like this for the M/S though. Very handy.

I have seen them a couple of times on Vergueiro sporters, I think South Africa used them a bit as they had a lot of Vergueiro in SA ?
