Greener GP Conversion????
      #226459 - 05/03/13 10:18 PM

Hi all,

I have a Greener GP sitting there, its a nice one with a 100% origional factory colour hardening, nice wood etc. It is one of the latter ones with circlips though. Will it take a full bore, higher service pressure if so up to what caliber. I was thinking maybe .375 2 1/2 or what about a big bore? All thoughts appreciated.

Regards - K

No. The Circlip guns apart from being ugly with those clips, are not recommended for conversion to centerfire cartridges. The action is a shotgun action and should remain a shotgun.

Look around for a commercial Martini Henry action and build on that.

Or as an alternative contact IMA in the U.S. and have them send you an untouched Mk II http://www.ima-usa.com/militaria/origina...-untouched.html

Use the action to build your rifle.

I agree with DD re: the circlip guns. I have a Mk III, earlier without circlips, as does a friend of mine who did the work, as a barrel changer set. Barrels in 12 ga, 12 bore rifle, 50-90, 375 2 1/2", .303, 45-70, and .22! Very versatile set. I have fired many rounds thru all barrels, with no troubles whatsoever. Bear in mind, the .303, and possibly .375 need to be kept to earlier, and milder, loadings.
