Tamarack bullet lube
      #225419 - 17/02/13 06:02 AM

Hello, I recently aquired a supply of "Tamarack High Temperature Bullet Lube" on a "take it all" trade. It is 50% Alox 2138F and 50% High temperature wax. I reload and shoot only BPCR's and BP muzzle-loaders. Is this lube compatible with BP? Thanks, Ed

High temp lubes are not a very good idea in any event. Hard lubes tend to not come completely off the bullet so it puts them out of balance. When you retrieve a bullet from the back stop and it has 1/2 or 1/4 of a lube groove still full of lube you can assume the bullet was not well balanced.
Alox is a very poor choice for BP. Its shortcomings in the use is the reason SPG and the later BP lubes came into being.

Dan
