Spot the beastie in the photo.
If you see it, don't let the cat out of the bag too early, but post that you have spotted it.
A good reason to be very alert when walking in the African bush.

It's like calling foxes - you're often so focused watching the opposite ridge waiting for a dog to pour over that you miss him when they pop up in the blackberry at your feet!

I found it, its amaing how the trained eye is so much quicker than the untrained. Several yeard ago my wife and three other couples were driving with a young female guide through Kruger park. She was driving the combie and spotted a Cheetah in the grass like that at over 100M. I had to use Bino's to find it. Bob

It took a couple seconds but I spotted it, kind of like spotting coyotes in sagebrush, they do blend in.

The leopard is well camouflaged and takes a small while to spot, the looker having being told to look for something. As with the illusion of camouflage, once it is spotted it is easy to see again.
The difficulty is when walking through the bush, it may just be bush, until it is too late, making the camouflage so much more effective.
***
Hunters are better at spotting game than the average person. Looking for a tail, an ear or eye, instead of expecting to see the whole beast in one go.
In Hwange Park one time, stopped by the side of the road, looking at a duiker, a car pulled up, the occupants gawking around looking for what was there, then pulled off still looking like 'tards. No idea how to spot something. Most cars zoomed along at speed anyway, 60 kmph or more, when a much slower speed meant you actually see something.

Like looking for a snowshoe hare on a spring snowshoe hunt March (we're on snowshoes too 6' + of snow still) - look for that 3/8" round black eyeball - once spotted, the rest of the critter magically appears.

I saw the cat right away. I think people who are use to looking for game do find things quicker, but the big thing is having the frame of reference in your mind.
My wife always says things like "get my moose eyes on" or "get your deer eyes on". It is accurate as you have to have yourself in tune for the game when you are spotting. I have seen people who could not see moose or elephants because they were not looking with the right frame of reference for size and color etc............ even though the animal was obvious to others around them.
