Easier in The Dry. The Wet is aptly named.

May - October for Safari operators with
some extension into November.

In saying that, someone on AR did a hunt in late December
on one of the flood plain operators out from Darwin. Luckily it has been a "dry" wet so little rain so far.

The rest of the time Nov - April is a lottery as to whether it is wet or dry although I would rule out Late Jan - March / April because it is so hard to get around because of water.

Wet season is when the monsoon comes down from the equatorial areas and moves down south - and correspondingly it pisses with rain !!!

Other factors involved make the wet season the wet season
but you get the drift.

It varies quite a lot from year to year, this year it has been an extremely dry start - very little rain up until Xmas day. The year before it pissed down all through December etc - at least where I was.
They also had a cyclone that didn't help !!!

Aromakr, it was a long trip for me, Sevilla-Madrid-London-Singapore-Darwin. I went in August but spent the first week fishing before going on a buff hunt. If you are a fisherman make sure you do that, it was SUPERB. The NT is one of my favourite spots in the world, I loved it, if I wasn´t married with young kids I think I´d move there if the Aussie govt would let me ! To me at least the NT is a bit of a "different" country to the rest of Oz in the same way the Florida Keys feel different to the rest of the USA (only there isn´t much hunting in the Keys compared to the NT) best, Mike

Mike, You would not believe how many young English family's move to Aus.
For Aus Buffalo seasons, It seems quite similar to southern African Buffalo seasons with June quite early with heavy cover running through to October with little ground water concentrating game numbers with the early and latter parts of the season being the hottest temperatures.

May I suggest even if you aren't a fisherman do it anyway.

I am not a great fisherman but do enjoy fishing in the NT
because you actually catch things, big things on a regular basis.

Not much sitting around getting bored

Start of January to the end of December if you live here and don't mind walking.

July and August are the coolest and best months for hunting.

September gets hotter and October hotter again. November is a killer. Rains usually start end of November/December. April might see areas opening up again, but otherwise May/June.

Claydog,

True. Matt G and I hunted banteng on Cobourg late November and it was fun tracking them for several kms in the softer moister soil. Could even work out when they stopped running and walking slower. Pity we didn't see him one time watching us, before he took off again, as we were tracking!

Nitro
We had good rain last night so hopefully I can track a buffalo tomorrow. It definitely pays to have someones eyes looking up.
