From memory Joseph Needham was a Birmingham maker, he did a lot of early pinfire arms.

Seems that there was three Needham; Henry (older one, maybe father of the others), Joseph Vernon and William. First they were in Birmingham but later in London too.

Come by the Rigby booth if you are going to be at SCI in Reno, Booth 2837. We have the same shotgun in our booth, in much better shape. They are really interesting shotguns. Ours is from 1865.

There's one illustrated page 40 of Rigby, A Grand Tradition. It was made 1860 in 12 bore with right and left handed bolts. Your photo shows nicely how it works.
