barrel could be original, 300 Savage was a common caliber in the kurz mauser

please keep us updated on the progess when making a new kurz bolt

Yesterday Mark and I picked up the shortened bolt body from the welder. Now Mark will clean up the weld then back to the welder to get a new bolt handle attached that he has made which matches the original Oberndorf style. Then it's pretty much down hill from there. With the last question being what is the last step. I favor the action being sold to a custom rifle builder as it would make a truly nice piece. New barrel, nice piece of lumber, and so on... But it is Mark's and he will decide. I am just having fun being involved with my friend of more then 50 years.

LRF send me two new pics for posting them here. you see tig welding was the greatest game changer of all.

"Previously I showed pic of this fixture being used to weld the shortened bolt body back together. Now it was used to align the new bolt handle for welding.
Mark will now shape out the welding and finish the bolt. Mark goes to Mexico in late December for 3 or 4 months every year so it may be a while before the bolt is done unless he gets busy on it."

well, its a smaller auction house in switzerland. the online catalog is a little bit like it was back in the 1990s and you have to study it careful not knowing what you will find. could be it find only little attention and you can make a deal there, not for nothing but for under common market price. I would say rigbys in 350 rigby are rare.

There is too Greener double rifle in caliber .310 cadet. It looks quite interesting with greener button safety and tilting diopter on stocks neck. Starting price is CHF 750 which is a tad more than 812€.

I bet that Rigby 350 goes for less than what the new 350s go for. Would be a pleasure to own one of those originals. Or a new one for that matter. That Greener double is pretty interesting.

That Greener is worth real money if it has good bores etc.
I’d happily pay the new tariffs if these guns go for anywhere near their estimates.
